David Ferrer finished 2009 with a win over Russian Nikolay Davydenko 2-6 6-2 6-4 in the opener of the exhibition tournament in Abu Dhabi in the UAE, and will meet Rafael Nadal in tomorrow’s semifinal. Just over three weeks after the Davis Cup Final Ferrer maintained his winning streak and needed just over two hours to defeat the Russian.

Thus, 2010 will start with a Spanish showdown. Ferrer will meet Rafael Nadal, world number two who, like Swiss world number one Roger Federer, had a bye into the semifinals. [Marca]
